In 1968, Cliff Cooper was a scrappy, young, long-haired owner of an upstart West End music shop, and he was having trouble convincing established amplifier manufacturers to supply him their products. He represented a counterculture they weren’t interested in, so ever the entrepreneur, he started his own brand: orangeamplifiers

The brand quickly experienced success, with the amps enjoying early adoption by Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, and famously being used by Stevie Wonder while recording his Superstition album — bringing Orange, and Cliff, worldwide recognition.

in 1970, Cliff helped produce four Meyers Manx buggies in London. Cliff says, “I’ve always considered eye-catching cars to be an engaging way to promote your brand. The Orange Beach Buggy soon became a well known sight around London.”

Cliff continues, “I found a company in East London that produced buggies in kit form and powered by a Volkswagen Beetle engine. I bought four and sold three. All three buyers kept the Orange logo on the bonnet.”
