When I was growing up, I saved up and bought myself a pitch-back to put in my backyard.
.
My brothers or dad might play catch with me on occasion, but I could never ask them to go outside with me all the hours I would need to feel prepared for my next practice with my team or game.
.
Since softball was MY thing, why would it be on anyone else to make sure I got my reps in? If I was the one who wanted to be good at these skills, why would I expect anyone else to make time for what I needed to practice?
.
There are too many things that you can do on your own- too many little details that require hours of the correct repetition.
.
Once you have the basics:
• Head inside your feet
• Separate at center
• Move feet to a target after receiving...
it becomes really easy to get better if you just go to work.
.
I guess I just believe that if you want something bad enough, there's never a question of how many times you need to do something until your work is done. You do it until it's right. You go until you're ready.
