Late last month amandakbarber and I achieved a pretty big goal. We finally finished paying off our $62,000 in debt (credit cards, vehicles, medical bills, and student loans)!!!!!!!

We definitely owe a lot of credit to daveramsey and #financialpeaceuniversity . We had both heard of and written off the plan several times. I would even laugh at people (who made what I considered to be good money) calling into the #daveramsey show and complaining about debt and lack of money. That was until we sat down and I realized that we were those same people! Even though we both worked our butts off, we just didn't have the money to do what we wanted and often found ourselves in a bind over financial emergencies.

Two classes into FPU, we found ourselves extremely motivated and started giving it all we had. We had some slip ups, some emergencies, and definitely veered off the plan a few times, but we still had a goal. About 21 months in we crossed the finish line.

I'll say this much, when you are putting forth the effort and trying, it is amazing how many opportunities pop up out of nowhere to help you out. We worked hard, had a little luck, and succeeded. If you are struggling with money, look into FPU. Don't let people sway you based on some preconceived notion they have of Ramsey or the program. You owe it to yourself, your spouse, and your family to become financially free.

We crossed the check in points for Baby Step 1 & 2. Now it is full speed to baby step 3!
