12 1/2 months ago Brian’s coworker introduced him to daveramsey ‘s podcasts. He came home, bought the #totalmoneymakeover book and was ready to live like no one else... but I wasn’t. After listening to a few podcasts I told Brian, “I’m sick of those smug screams. Those debt free people make more money than we do.”
But I kept listening and when Dave Ramsey said we could change the family tree, I started paying attention.
My job is to homeschool Lily! Why hadn’t we taught her about money?! What do we know about money?!
So we brought Lily in on the family budget meetings. She made the envelopes and decorated them. She joined our daily sacrifices.
There were bumps in the road. Brian broke several bones at work the first month of our debt free journey. We realized our debt snowball would simply shrink a little slower. But we stuck with it and my tough husband got back to work and picked up extra hours to make up for all the money he lost.
By the grace of God, our consumer debt is done! Our credit cards are gone, the cars are ours, and Sallie Mae is OUTTA HERE!

My only regret: waiting so long. Just start the money makeover. It’s not painful! I thought we were looking at a year of pain and torture. But you can still have fun without spending money!
