December 11, 2019 at exactly 2:03 PM, we paid off every single penny we owed. As of today, WE ARE DEBT FREE! Student loans, credit cards, car payments, and personal loans - GONE. And let me tell you that owing no one is the best feeling in the world!
A year ago, I listened to this crazy guy #daveramsey about how debt is dumb and it just clicked. Kim and I had been married for 7 years and we never really talked about money. As long as the bills are paid we thought we’re good. But were we really? When we sat through our finances, we realized we had nothing to show for our hard work. We had no savings, no cushion, and everything for us was an emergency. We swiped our credit cards every chance we could. Seven years later we were deep into debt. So last December 2018, we stepped out our comfort zone and started communicating about money. We started making a budget, we stuck with it, we avoided eating out, we didn’t buy anything new, and only bought the necessities, all the extra money we have went to debt and savings. This journey was excruciating to a T. We made a lot of sacrifices as a family and today IT PAID OFF! It’s so freakin surreal that we won’t be having anymore payments. That we can start building our retirement, building wealth, traveling and all these good things. That we will welcome 2020 DEBT FREE!

Im not here to brag. I just want to let you guys know that being in debt should not be normal. Kim and I don’t make six figures by any means, not even close! But we did it. We paid off $31,871.33 in 12 months!You cannot drag one to the finish line, you need to work together to win - and we did! We are a true testament of what you and your spouse can achieve if you strive for the same goals. WE DID IT, SO CAN YOU.
