HAVING OUR PIE, AND EATING IT TOO 🥧

If you’ve talked to us this last year, you probably know that Joe and I have been working on becoming debt free.

What you probably don’t know is that last year—two weeks before Christmas— we were sitting at our kitchen table crying because our bills were suffocating us. When we crunched the numbers we realized we were $600 in the hole every month just after paying our BILLS. That wasn’t including groceries or gas money or any other expense. We couldn’t even afford our daughter’s formula. Our world was crumbling around us.

We asked my Dad for advice and he gifted us Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. We accepted it but SCOFFED at the idea that we could get out of debt using his baby steps.

We were wrong.

Today, 11 months since we sat at that table, we became CONSUMER DEBT FREE.

We side hustled.
We sold everything in our house to the point our dog thought he was next.
We ate rice and beans.
And the funny thing is, I think we’ve been happier this year than any other.

We will be back in one year once we’ve kicked Sallie Mae out of our house and paid off our remaining $22,000 in student debt! Maybe I’ll bake a cake 🤔
