I am about to get really personal on here right now. *deep breath*

Today, I have officially paid off $15,443 of debt in 15 months. 🙌 I am not writing this to brag, it’s actually terrifying for me to admit that I was in debt—I am writing this hoping I can inspire any of you who might be in this situation—either better or worse. I had $15,443 of credit card debt, car debt, medical debt, and a little bit of student loan debt. 15 months ago I had my “sick and tired” moment 😥. I was sick and tired of paying what seemed like endless payments and no matter how much I would pay, the interest would make it seem like I barely made a dent. Now I know that most of us think that having car debt and student loan debt is “normal”— pretty much everyone has it. But I don’t want to be normal, I want to be weird. 🤪

I was inspired by daveramsey, rachelcruze and the #debtfreecommunity on Instagram to get serious about paying off my debt. I read the Total Money Makeover, wrote a plan, followed the baby steps, and stuck to a budget. Yeah, there were some hiccups and some moments of weakness but I picked myself up and stayed focused on the end goal. My goal was to become debt free before my 25th birthday and here I am— debt free, baby! 🙌

I couldn’t have done it without my support system of friends and family who, thankfully, didn’t get too mad at me when I had to say “no” to activities that were out of the budget.
The secret to getting out of debt is to make a plan and stick to it. I know it’s easier said than done, but it’s possible!
