What’s the craziest thing your spouse has asked you to do?

Hey...you in the back...keep it clean! 😂

June 2018, I was a million months pregnant when Eric came home and told me we were going to pay off our new Jeep Grand Cherokee before Christmas and “Oh, hey, we need to make and stick to this thing called a budget”. Umm what? Car payments are a min of 4 years not 6 months...and what do you mean by a budget?

I was The Spender -Amazon packages daily
-Weekly trips to TJMaxx -Nail Appointments
-Coffee stops daily (sometimes twice)
-Lunches from the Deli

I could go on but you get the point. I was hemorrhaging money and at the end of the month I was struggling to make the minimum payments on my monthly bills. This is normal though right? Everyone has debt and it feels impossible to get ahead sooo yolo, spend money for temporary happiness!
So when Eric came home and said he started listening to this guy “Dave” and we need to make and stick to a budget (that wouldn’t accommodate the above listed items) I felt annoyed and a little betrayed. It took months before he got me fully on board but during those months I was watching our car debt shrink so drastically that I started asking “Who is Dave and what has he done with my husband?” While Eric was at work I started watching daveramsey on YouTube and heard stories from hundreds of people making less money than we do paying off more debt than we have. Inspiring is an understatement.
13 months later and we have paid off a little over $51,000 in debt. By December of 2019 we will be completely debt free! This means ALL of the money we are putting towards our monthly payments will be freed up for other things. Not to mention when you stop spending money on “things” you start to appreciate what you have. Not only is our marriage stronger but we are happier and healthier people since we started this debt free journey.
For the month of August, Dave has challenged everyone to pay off $1000 of debt. Are you up for the challenge? It just may change your life.
