8 years ago we took FPU as part of our premarital counseling and I believe that saved us a lot of money arguments. It gave us a good starting place and helped us work as a team from the beginning. We didn’t travel and have nice date nights like typical 20 something year old newlyweds without kids. We worked as many and whatever jobs we could get while finishing school. Our dates were homework on Saturday mornings. I still remember the spring of 2013 semester, standing in our kitchen talking about our day while making PBJ sandwiches 🥪 for dinner the next night so we wouldn’t eat out on our way from work to our evening classes. We didn’t do everything right (still don’t) but we try and have changed our family tree. Once we were done with school and both working full time (January 2019) we moved from planning to attacking our debt snowball. We were on track to pay everything off in 5 years. But in July decided to sell our house to pay off all the debt at once. Paying off student loans in 7 months instead of 5 years saved us about $17,000 in interest! On to #babystep3 🤗
