When I graduated just under 3 years ago, I moved to Chicago with the weight of $11,000 of credit card debt, a $8,500 car loan, and a $7,500 student loan on my back. In short, a $27,000 mess that I created in just two and a half years during my Junior and Senior years of college. Combine that mess with the high cost of living in Chicago and a subpar entry level salary, I was terrified. 
27 months ago, I thought that I was a “victim”. 26 months ago, I decided that I was responsible for the mess that I created. I decided that I was ready to sacrifice deeply and do what it takes so that I never had to feel the weight of that financial burden ever again. 
Today, I am 100% DEBT FREE!!! The journey isn't easy. It starts with the “I'VE HAD IT” moment. The moment where you say to yourself "I AM NOT LIVING LIKE THIS ANYMORE! I AM SICK AND TIRED, OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!" It takes learning how to live on a budget. It takes learning how to say NO. It takes patience and contentment. Most importantly, it requires you to accept that the only person who can fix the problem is YOU.
