I’m Debt-Free!!!! When I left Washington DC and took a job in Southern Africa almost 2 years ago, I saw it as a great chance to finally focus on building for my financial future. But then life happened and a year later I hadn’t made any progress. 
Then something changed. With my 40th birthday looming, I realized I needed to get serious about my financial freedom. I soon discovered the #debtfreecommunity and daveramsey and the baby steps, and others like anthonyoneal, and their many tools that helped guide me. 
My goal was debt freedom by my 40th birthday, and here I stand, 7 months, 6 student loans, 2 credit cards, 2 cell phones and $24,915.17 later ...completely debt free!! It wasn’t easy. I budgeted each month, throwing as much as I could towards the debt. I got good at saying no to things I couldn’t afford, and to things I hadn’t budgeted for. But I had family and friends in my corner, cheering me on, even those who thought I was a little crazy. 
Seven months later, I see and use money differently. 
This month I became debt free — one month before my 40th birthday! 
I’m most proud of myself for not giving up. I crossed the finish line. What’s to stop me from achieving my other goals? “Focused intensity over time, multiplied by God equals unstoppable momentum.” - daveramsey
