Morgan and I did it! WE’RE DEBT FREE!!!! When we got married, we were hopelessly in love but had no plan. I was taking 22 hours in school, Morgan and I were waiting tables at a restaurant, and I had another part-time job at a retail store. I always tell people I wouldn’t recommend it, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing! 
We got home from an amazing honeymoon and walked in the door to a gust of hot air. We didn’t know to put the electric bill in our names before we left, so we had no power. We called the electric company and had to put down a deposit to turn it on. It was $375.00. At the time, we had $400.00 in our account. It was this moment we knew we had to get to work and change our situation. 
We graduated and had bought a car and a bunch of things we didn’t need. I am the spender, and Morgan is the saver. And the debt was causing stress and frustration—we fought like cats and dogs. Morgan refused to live like this, and I knew she was right. She wanted to pay it off as fast as possible, and I honestly did not believe that we could ever pay off $75,000 in student loans. The rest of our debt consisted of 2 car payments, furniture payments, credit cards, jewelry and cell phones!  TOTAL DEBT PAID: $123,741.72 
How did we do it? 
1.  We decided to not be “normal” and be weird!
2.  We made a budget and stuck to it.
3.  We got on the same page.
4.  We said ‘no’ more than we said ‘yes.’
5.  We got mad at our debt.
6.  We went crazy.
7.  We stopped keeping up with the Joneses.
8.  We worked our butts off.
9.  We sold everything in sight—the dog thought he was next!
10.  We believed we could do it!
11.  Morgan cleaned houses for extra money.
12.  I worked to bonus every month for extra money.
13.  We got rid of our “safety net” of savings except a $1,000 emergency fund.
14.  We lived on 1 income, and the rest was thrown at debt.
15.  We refused to buy a house until we cleaned up our mess.
16.  We drove a dog of a car “the toaster” (NO AC for a year, cracked windshield, busted up bumper, torn seats). #livelikenooneelse #daveramsey #finacialpeaceuniversity #debtisdumb #debtsnowball #debtfreejourney #debtfreecommunity
