It all started by accidentally coming across a teaching by daveramsey. One day he was talking about why it’s a great idea to pay off your home mortgage. We enjoyed his teaching for weeks and everything he was teaching sunk in EXCEPT the concept of paying off our mortgage. In our mind we needed that good ole tax exemption that comes with having a mortgage. Then one day he did the math on air and we realized we were playing to lose and not to win. We set an audacious goal of paying our mortgage off in 5 years and guess what happened? We paid off our house today EXACTLY 5 years from the day that we closed on our house. When you total it all up it comes to $330,000 paid in 5 years, and we did it on single middle class income. TO GOD BE THE GLORY! We are no longer simply homeowners.
