After 38 long months, we have finally reached our goal of becoming #DEBTFREE! 
In this time we’ve had 2 kids, moved 4 times, AND paid off $124,698 in debt. We started our “Debt Free Journey” in February 2015. We made decent money but still felt money was tight.  Around that time, we stumbled across Dave Ramsey’s podcast and started following his Baby Steps. Our debt included 2 cars and a few other smaller loans, but the large majority was my law school loan.  Most of the money we brought in was being paid back out to make monthly payments. We decided to hold ourselves accountable – we got ourselves into debt, and it was up to us to get ourselves out of debt. The past 3 years we have been living a very frugal lifestyle.  We have worked hard, lived on a small fraction of our income, and we’ve thrown every penny we could possibly squeeze out at our debt.  We realized we don’t have many needs – most of the things we thought were needs are really just “wants.” We cut out all extras and for several months we did not even have a TV.  Each time we received a raise or bonus, we threw the money at the debt. IF we bought anything at all, it was almost always on clearance.  We ate 99.9% of our meals at home.  We reused ziplock bags and we wore our clothes until they literally were worn out.  When Brian wore a hole at the end of his sock, he switched the sock to the other foot until he wore a hole on the other side. Our cars are 7 & 12 years old – as long as they still work, we are keeping them.  We have said “No” so many more times than we have said “Yes” but it has all been worth it because today we are debt free.  The money we used to pay out each month – with interest – now goes into our pockets instead.  Thanks to a lot of hard work & sacrifice, any worry about money is now gone. This program has been incredible for our marriage because we work towards our goals together. I’m so proud of us because we stayed the course & we met the goal we have spent the last 38 months trying to reach. Thank you #daveramsey for changing our lives for the better.
