DEBT FREE ✨

This week, we throw all the confetti because Joe and I are completely and entirely debt free! No more car payments, credit card payments, and, for sure, no more stinkin Sallie Mae payments! Today we truly learned what it means to dance in freedom as we thew off the shame of debt while confetti fluttered down around us in every direction

12 months ago we looked up and realized that we didn’t want to be normal. We had just attended a daveramsey Money&Marriage event and realized that we were on a fast track to letting our money spend us rather than the other way around. So we decided to get real about our budgeting, the baby steps, money and and how it affected our marriage

To us, “normal” meant having car payments for the rest of our lives, paying off loans until we were 30, and using a credit card to pay for absolutely everything. It would mean drowning in debt. And fights about money, goals, and priorities. “Normal” didn’t sound fun- in fact, it sounded really lame. So we decided to start living like no one else with the goal of eventually being able to live, and give, like no one else

I can’t say the journey to becoming debt-free has been easy. In fact, it’s been really, really difficut. Its taken focus and lots of dreaming about what our future could look like. We messed up, got sidetracked, and bought a dog. We took steps backward and jumps forward. We’ve had to say no to a lot of things, a lot of GOOD things. But we were living like no one else for the sake of reaching our goals and priorities

Here’s the most beautiful thing about the adventure though, becoming debt-free also meant saying YES to a lot of things. I meant saying yes to a new way of living. To big ideas. To a healthy marriage. To critical conversation. To retiring early. And dreaming bigger things than we could’ve ever imagined. And today, it meant saying yes to throwing confetti and celebrating our biggest accomplishment in marriage to date! 🎉
