"I like dates. I like to keep a record of the moments in which everything we know changes. So I woke up expectant for tonight, because of what happened this night last year-- the first night of PCC's Summer In The City. I had shown up a year ago with raised fists, knuckles bruised, walking in self-loathing and asking God a lot of hard questions. Then Rend Collective got on stage and talked about what happens to a heart when life steals it's joy. I had spent that whole first night of SITC 2015 crying in the pretty white bathrooms of this church, and God met me there, whispering, "Get up and walk." My Prodigal moment. Tonight, a year later, I've thought a lot about what the Prodigal son's life looked like AFTER his father welcomed him home with a feast. How did he live his life? Did he smile when he talked about the feast he had enjoyed when he returned? Then Trip Lee got on stage and read from 1 Timothy 1:15-16: "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life." The pain that sat on my chest last year is gone. There's a lot more peace and a lot more walking into what He's called me to.
I'm grateful for His patience. I'm grateful for the feast He has let me enjoy the past year. I'm grateful that now I get to smile and remember and say: He is patient, and His feast is good indeed." #pccSITCstories
