We’re starting a new series hosting strong women in influential/strong/empowering positions. Chef Mariana Gonzalez-Trasvina and Lt Governor Sabina Matos are perfect examples! 

Sabina says that she initially didn’t think she would fall into a position of politics. Her father was the mayor of her hometown and her mother was a teacher. They are the role models she learned public service from. 

When she was a little girl her dad asked her what she wanted to do when she grows up. She responded with “everything.” She jokes that politics is just that and her way of doing everything!

Her advice to young girls on how to achieve their dreams: “We are the ones who put obstacles in our own way. Understand that your voice is needed and you can do anything you put your mind to- the first person you need to convince us yourself. “. 

My purpose of this series is to inspire the youth to never stop dreaming ✨ As a Middle Eastern child growing up, I never saw the representation I so desperately wanted in the media. I can’t wait to bring these women to the light where they belong 🤍
