When you’ve been given the opportunity to create whatever you want because you have the faith and trust of a client, it’s definitely an honour but sometimes it can be preeeeetty stressful. Lol. That said, when I approach a project I always do my best to put my clients interest at the top of my priorities even if they are requesting my “style” or “art”. So with that said, these pieces are what I thought their space needed and would complete the space. Thank you jackiedwild and Tito Boy for the trust and faith. Salamat Po!

The intention for these pieces was to help add to the warmth of the interior and also pay tribute to our Filipino culture in contemporary way. The patterns are inspired by traditional picnic mats from the Philippines known as “Banigs”. The mats are a symbol of gathering in a down to earth manner and connects us to our roots. The Banigs are typically found in multicoloured woven patterns, but I decided to change the colour to add more greenery to the space. The interior contains a lot of plants, like many Filipino home have, so I wanted to create some artwork that contributed to the healthy and welcoming atmosphere. At the end of the day I just wanted to make sure that they had something on their walls that represented our culture but still had some slick and funky vibes.
