In the summer of 2017, Jamie Margolin’s (jamie_s_margolin) hometown of Seattle was enveloped in smoke due to nearby wildfires. “Breathing the air hurt,” she says. “I decided that the local climate organizing I had been doing in my community had to be taken to the next level — there needed to be mass mobilizations of youth all over the world standing up for our lives and our futures.” ⁣
 ⁣
So Jamie, who’s now 19, co-founded Zero Hour, the international youth climate justice organization that leads marches in cities around the world. She continues to organize campaigns, strikes and protests to fight for urgent climate action. ⁣
 ⁣
Jamie honors #WomensHistoryMonth because women’s stories are often erased from the narrative of history. “So many movements and achievements in history were created and led by women, but the history books retell everything from a purely male perspective where the women are passive in our own stories,” she says. “We have to reverse the wrongs of history and properly highlight and appreciate the work women do for our world.” ⁣
