“I’ve never experienced anything like it before,” says AJ, who participated in Sydney’s annual Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras celebration for the second year in a row. “This event provides hope, freedom and light to those who are feeling alone, invalidated or not out as themselves.” ⁣

When she’s not reveling through the streets of Sydney, the Melbourne-based 23-year-old uses her online platform to advocate for the LGBTQ community and share her life experiences about being transgender. “I grew up with little to no visibility around being trans,” says AJ. “I want to change the narrative and show a different story.”
