“But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. I cried aloud to the LORD, and he answered me from his holy hill.” -Psalm 3:3-4

So many prayers for the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill, as they recover from the recent tragedy. God is our shield, he will protect us from the flaming darts of the enemy. God will look out for his children and grant them blessings and safety. While there is violence in this world because it is sinful and broken, as we are sinful and broken, this is not the end. We are meant for a greater purpose, we are meant for a perfect world, in a perfect relationship with the Father. Even as the darkness abounds and we tread through the valley of the shadow of death, the darkness has not overcome the light. We will fear no evil, for the LORD our God is with us and has power over the darkness. As UNC mourns, and recovers, may God grant them a real sense of safety and the ability to bounce back and move forward. The terror that students felt will be something that they will remember. However, God is greater, God is LORD Almighty and is our shield and defender. We know this, but would we pray that God reminds us, and fills us with his presence so that we are comforted by him. The King awaits for us to come to him to experience his refuge, but he also seeks out and runs towards us as our savior.
