“‘Come let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. That he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.’” -Micah 4:2

Oh, that I would draw near to the Father daily! That he would teach me his ways and that I would be in his presence. We can draw near to him because Jesus is our high priest; he intercedes for us and, because of what he has done and is doing, allows us to be near to God. This is taught throughout the Bible: God wants to be near his people. Adam and Eve walked in the garden with God, he invited Israel to draw near to him when he descended onto Mount Sinai, Jesus humbled himself to become man and dwell with man, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, and in Revelation, we are granted to sit down with Jesus on his throne. God wants to be with us; he has a great love for us despite our sinful nature. God’s way is good and fulfilling, whereas when we depend solely on our own strength and power, it does not last. He leads us on paths that he ordained for us. There is purpose to where he has us going, both in the open door and the closed. When we draw near to the LORD, he reveals his paths to us, that we would understand and follow of our own volition, so that we have fullness of joy and experience the pleasures of God.
