## Caption

Photo by babaktafreshi / It's about 4 a.m. These taillights are from the vehicle of an astronomer who was leaving after a night of observation at Roque de los Muchachos Observatory, which is on a 2,400-meter (7,900 ft) mountain on La Palma, one of Spain's Canary Islands. The telescope uses a laser to remove the blurring effect caused by the air turbulence. For large telescopes, this technology is crucial for revealing the detail of the universe. I hold an annual astrophotography workshop on this mountain, one of my favorite places on the planet. #twanight #canaryislands #astronomy
