Photo by kiliiiyuyan / A male snowy owl flies low over the tundra in search of lemmings near one of my favorite places, Teshekpuk Lake in Alaska. On Alaska’s North Slope, 2019 was a bumper year for lemmings, and snowy owls caring for their nests were busy feeding their families alongside millions of other nesting birds.⁠
