## Caption

Video by @joelsartore / The Bornean peacock-pheasant is a rare and elusive bird endemic to the lowland forests of Borneo. Brightly colored males have 20 tail feathers decorated with blue-green ocelli that can be spread out in a fan-like display. Researchers once thought it was a subspecies of the Malayan peacock-pheasant because of physical similarities, but this has been ruled out since the birds are well-isolated geographically. This bird is part of a conservation breeding program to try and ensure the continued survival of this very rare species.
