Photo by lynseyaddario / A South Sudanese woman, Angelina Nyabol, right, is greeted by United Nations peacekeepers from Ghana as they accompany her and other South Sudanese women while they fetch firewood outside the camp for internally displaced people in Bentiu, South Sudan, in June 2019. Many of the women expressed joy at seeing female peacekeepers. Says local resident Nyaluak Belen (not pictured): “When we see women here, it creates confidence that women are also peacekeepers. Their presence creates awareness when they come with us for firewood. When we see them, they encourage our daughters to go to school, and to also be like them. They shouldn’t get married early, and they should go to school.” #UNPeacekeepers #LynseyAddario
