Photo by Pete McBride pedromcbride / Namibia's national animal, the oryx, or gemsbok, has a unique circulation system that allows it thrive in harsh desert environments. Oryx can use the capillaries in their noses to cool the blood flowing to their brain as they breathe. I am often amazed at how wild animals are able to live in environments like deserts or at high elevations or deep in the ocean—there are many reasons to celebrate them for #WorldWildlifeDay.
