Photo by @gabrielegalimbertiphoto and Juri De Luca Fossils of long-extinct creatures aren’t just for museums. Today they're in homes and businesses, as wealthy collectors indulge a controversial hobby.

In Mandeville, Louisiana, Joseph Perdigao, his wife, Ana Maria, and their children, Nicolas and Isaac, are seen in their living room, which has a fantastic view of one of the state's quintessential swamps. "I bought this skull three weeks ago," Joseph said. "It's actually a birthday present that I gave to myself. I wanted to buy something beautiful to keep in our living room. I was looking on internet for something connected to natural history, one of my big passions, and I found the website of a company specialized in finding, restoring, and selling dinosaurs fossils. I didn't know until that moment that I could buy a real fossil of dinosaur or a cast of it. I immediately understood that that was exactly what I wanted for my house. So, I bought this cast of triceratops. I didn't say anything to my family until the dinosaur got here. They were positively shocked to see it when they came back home.” #dinosaur #dino #triceratops
