🎨 1. A salt shaker is seen suspended and pouring its contents onto a kidney and blood vessels, representing the tissues that mediate salt-sensitive hypertension. The flames represent the inflammation, while the embers are shaped as inflammasomes and lymphocytes.

🧑‍🎨 Justin Yu is majoring in molecular and cellular biology and history at vanderbiltu. He is originally from Carmel, Indiana. This is his second year with the Artist-in-Residence Program! 

🧑‍🔬 The Kirabo lab is working to define the molecular mechanisms underlying activation of the immune system in response to hypertensive stimuli including excess dietary salt, sympathetic nerve outflow, and oxidative stress!
