🎨 The Lemur Leap frog infected with the chytrid fungus Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) has a ready defense in the dermal granular glands. The glands release a steady stream of antimicrobial peptides that can effectively kill the pathogen on the surface of the skin. #SciArt

🧑‍🎨 John Lee is majoring in #Chemistry and minoring in Computer Science. With the Rollins-Smith lab, he's focused on amphibian protection against the chytrid fungi with antimicrobial peptide secretions. This will be used as cover art for a future publication! #SciComm

🧑‍🔬 The Louise Rollins-Smith lab studies the immune defenses of amphibians against two fungal skin pathogens linked to global amphibian declines.
