This planet is juuuust right. 🥣

Earth is the only planet that we know of that has life, and it lies in what astronomers call the "circumstellar habitable zone," colloquially known as the Goldilocks zone.

It’s called the Goldilocks zone because the planet's distance to the Sun makes surface temperatures neither too hot nor too cold for there to be liquid water on its surface. Water is a necessary ingredient for life as we know it. 

With information from ground-based and space telescopes (soon to include NASAWebb), astronomers continue the search for Goldilocks planets around other stars.

The photo above was taken from the International Space Station (iss) and it shows the glow of Earth’s atmosphere above the clouds, liquid ocean and cities below.
