## Caption

🌀 And we’re spiraling!

Our NASAHubble Space Telescope captured this image of a spiral galaxy in the constellation Virgo, roughly 120 million light-years from Earth. This richly detailed image was snapped by the Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3, capturing a wide range of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared wavelengths.

This galaxy could be described as a “weakly-barred spiral galaxy,” which means the spiral arms of the galaxy radiate from a central bar of gas and stars. Bars occur in roughly half of spiral galaxies, including our own galaxy, the Milky Way.

Credit: NASA/Hubble & EuropeanSpaceAgency, A.
