March 8 of each year is celebrated around the globe as International Women’s Day. At NASA, women – be they scientists, pilots, astronauts or subject matter experts –  help us fulfill our mission to reach for new heights, innovate, and explore for the benefit of humankind. Cheers to those women, past and present, whose grit and talent propel us forward.

⭐️ Christa McAuliffe 
Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher ever selected to go to space, training on a T-38 jet soaring over Galveston Bay.

⭐️ Katherine Johnson
In NASA's early years, gifted mathematicians analyzed and verified complex aerospace data. Today, one of the most recognized of these 'human computers' is Katherine Johnson.

⭐️ Annie Easley
Annie Easley is seen here at NASAGlenn. In 1955, Easley began her career at NASA, then the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA), as a human computer performing complex mathematical calculations.

⭐️ Mae Jemison
Dr. Jemison became an astronaut in 1987. She flew on the Space Shuttle in 1992 and became the first African-American woman to launch into space!

⭐️ Zena Cardman
Cardman reported for duty in August 2017 and completed two years of training as an Astronaut Candidate. She has been assigned technical duties and is currently awaiting flight assignment.
