Perhaps one of the most pivotal underground movements in extreme music is the Swedish Death Metal scene of the late ‘80s & ‘90s. Taking influence from hardcore punk & their predecessors in bathoryofficial, a wave of young musicians utilized downtuned guitars & a specific distortion pedal to create a sound that was uniquely their own.
