## Caption

A handful of extreme metal bands had established themselves by the mid to late 90’s with an endless supply of imitators who copied the formula verbatim. However, a group from Hazlet, New Jersey armed with 7-string guitars, odd effects, and an abstract view of songwriting quickly set themselves apart from the herd. Over a 6 year period, Human Remains released a unique blend of death metal, grindcore, and hardcore unlike anything before it. This brief but explosive moment in extreme music served as the foundation for several beloved off-shoots (Discordance Axis, Burnt by the Sun, Gridlink), but an underground following continues to praise their roughly 40-minute long discography to this day.
