## Caption

Now for the heart of the ‘Japan-R’ Skyline we posted recently: its engine. Nissan never made a GT-R version of the C210 Skyline — this may be the closest we’ll ever see.

Legendary tuner Smoky Nagata (that’s his autograph on Slide 2) and his topsecretjapan team took the straight-six 3.0L RB30 block from an R31 Skyline and mated it to RB26 heads from the R32. The result, estimated 280 hp in a chassis from the late-70s, must be manic.

We were fortunate to see this monster at the LA Pre 85 JDM & Euro Car Show hosted by autoconduct with brekkiecarclub x vintagejapanesemotorunion. Maybe one day we’ll get to witness its genius at speed.
