John Morton became notorious for driving flat-out through corners his opponents took with care. “If you have a driver racing with you who will take a chance to win,” he said in the 1973 book The Stainless Steel Carrot, “then you are obliged to take a chance too.” The image of Morton throwing his BRE Datsun 510 into turns sideways became burned into the memories of race fans.
