Behind the wheel of a BRE Datsun 510, driver John Morton won back-to-back national championships in the SCCA 2.5-Liter Trans-Am class in 1971 and 1972. His success validated the Datsun brand in America, and his story was immortalized in the 1973 book The Stainless Steel Carrot by Sylvia Wilkinson.
