#Regram #RG AmazonWatch: In the Ecuadorian Amazon - the Yasuni national park was designated as a world biosphere reserve by Unesco in 1989. Scientists in 2010 counted 2,700 plant species, and more tree species than are native to all of North America. Yasuni has a record 271 amphibian and reptile species, a projected 100,000 insect species, and one of the world's largest concentrations of jaguars.
Despite massive protests from civil society and protests by indigenous peoples of the region, Ecuador is now drilling for oil there.
