We’re going to share stories with you next month during September, and today I, Courtney Young MPH Education & Advocacy Manager, wanted to share a story with you all. ⠀

It’s about therapy. I tried therapy when I was in middle school; I despised it. Although looking back as an adult, I wish I would have stuck it out or tried a different therapist. But I didn’t know nor did my parents.⠀
.⠀
Fast forward to 25 years old, and I decided I would use my family’s insurance (EAP) that included 5 counseling sessions. I was doing okay at the time, but I knew I could work on my mental health and practice healing from my past. I was nervous at first, but I did it. And I loved it. Even though I was doing okay, I had things I needed to work on and emotions to process.⠀

If you’re looking for a sign to start going to therapy, here is your sign and motivation. It was worth the time and effort. I made so much progress. If my insurance didn’t cover the sessions, it would have been worth every penny too. ⠀
