While Ace of Spades has been pitched by everyone as Get Out meets Gossip Girl faridahlikestea ’s debut is more than flashy comparisons, it’s deep and profound. Still a thrilling, fast-paced mystery Ace of Spades tackles heavy topics of racism, homophobia, elitism and white supremacy while never shying away from the ugly truth.

A powerful story of two Black kids overcoming the odds and getting the happy ending they deserve Ace of Spades deserves all the praise it has received. Dark Academia with QPOC leads that challenge the racist institutions that try to ruin their lives, this was easily a five star read for me. Keeping me hooked from the beginning to end I finished this in one day and can’t wait to see Àbíké-Íyímídé what writes next.
