We stand on the shoulders of giants. One of which is Oscar Micheaux (1884-1951), founder of the first movie company owned and controlled by Black filmmakers. 
In his lifetime, he made 44 films and has been described as "the most successful African-American filmmaker of the first half of the 20th century". So while you're watching #BlackPanther, a historic film itself, remember the accomplishments of Micheaux and all of those who made that film possible for us to enjoy today!⠀
