If you don't track growth over time your follower count is pretty much a vanity metric meaning that it doesn't tell you anything about your social media account and whether it's working for you. 

Building followers (the right ones, of course!) naturally increases your organic reach. And monitoring your monthly growth as a percentage helps you keep an eye out for spikes and dips that will let you know when your content is "on pointe" or not hitting the mark.

So how do you calculate your follower growth rate? Ready for the easy maths lesson?

The number of followers gained ÷ the previous number of followers x 100 = your growth rate percentage. Easy 💁🏻‍♀️

So, for example: if in the last week you have gained 9 followers and you previously had 450 followers, that's a growth rate of 2%.

There are, of course, a lot more metrics to be measured in establishing whether your social media account is working well but that's for a whole other day...
