We women truly are an incredible bunch. You don’t have to change the whole world to be worthy of praise. Your acts don’t even have to be headline news. Our lives affect so many people in sometimes very subtle yet powerful ways. Even a kind word or deed can have an enormous effect.⁠
⁠
If you have five minutes, follow the link in my bio to find out about some of the extraordinary accomplishments women have made throughout history. They probably didn’t realise it at the time, but their acts had ripple effects that we are benefitting from today. ⁠
⁠
We are indebted to the trailblazers before us who, despite opposition, have changed the world and its thinking (though, there’s still a long way to go). Those who fought for rights and equality, like the MP and philanthropist, Eleanor Rathbone who was responsible for family allowance being paid to the mother; Josphine Butler, who in Victorian times campaigned against child prostitution and international sex trafficking; Noor Inayat Kahn, the first Muslim female war hero who as an undercover operative in France, and despite being tortured, never gave away any Allied secrets; Bessie Coleman, the first woman of African-American and Native American descent to earn, against all odds, an aviation pilot’s licence; Lee Tai Young, the first female lawyer in South Korea and later first female judge who helped Korean women stand up for their rights; Rosa Parks, Malala Yousafzai, Elizabeth Fry, Wangari Maathai, Amelia Earhart. Mary Seacole, Audrey Hepburn -  These women didn’t give up. Neither should we.⁠
