So I was a bit late to the party. 
I didn't join Facebook until 2012! My daughter was born. My new mum friends were making arrangements via social media and I was missing out. So I decided, as an old friend commented, to "eventually join the 21st Century"! My older kids thought this was laughable and for a few years afterwards gave me plenty of "old people and Facebook" taunts. 
My comeback: Don't laugh at me trying to navigate social media, I taught you how to use a spoon. 
Fast forward six years, and despite starting late, I'm helping them set up their LinkedIn profiles and building a business in Social Media Management all thanks to digital learning and in particular @digitalmums.

And when I started the course I was overwhelmed by how little I knew about the digital world. Yes, it was intensive, challenging and required brain power I hadn't used in many years. But the beauty of digital learning is that it's so varied: videos, podcasts, quizzes, online workbooks - not a stuffy old text book in sight. And that made it more user friendly and therefore easier to stick with. 
And now, I get to do this as my job... audit, plan, analyse, create content and manage social media platforms for other businesses.  And it didn't matter that I was late to the party because it's such an ever-changing digital world that there's bound to be something you don't know but that doesn't mean you aren't skilled enough to perform the task. My digital learning platform brought with it a community of like minded people from whom I can get support and knowledge. If I don't know something, someone will and they'll be willing to help. That's been my experience with Digital Mums. So my advice to you on this #digitallearningday is don't be afraid of what you don't yet know; you will get to grips with it no matter how late you start on it and it really is never too late to challenge yourself.
