We're not too old, are we?

Do you consider yourself 'out of touch' in your office because you're no longer in your twenties or thirties? 
According to a piece in the Daily Mail, workers over 50 are scared to admit it for fear that their age will count against them. They believe bosses and younger colleagues will view them as too old and in the way.  In turn, younger colleagues are worried about older colleagues blocking their careers while also worrying about what effect turning 50 themselves will eventually have on their careers.

It seems we've got some issues to deal with around ageism here. 
Since when did youth and huge self belief trump experience and knowledge? I'm grateful to those older colleagues in my past who taught me some valuable lessons and work hacks that helped me in my career.

Ten million people aged 50+ are working in Britain which is nearly a third of labour force and employment among the over-50s is at a record high. But a survey by Opinium found that two in five over-50s think their age will bar them from promotion or pay rises. And nearly one in ten employees will not even tell workmates when they hit half a century.
