Self belief, self esteem - they are crucial to how we see ourselves.

What do you see when you look in the mirror?  Do you see someone you like or are you critical of yourself? Not just of your looks but of your abilities? 
It has taken me many years to feel comfortable in my own skin and there are still days when I would prefer to remain unseen by others, thinking they can see the flaws that I do.  But, I'm glad to say, these moments happen less and less.  I'm not sure if it's age or life experience that has led me to feeling happier with what I see in the mirror but I do have a much higher opinion of myself nowadays in terms of what I can do and achieve. Going back into learning was a big step for me. I thought there was nowhere else for me to go with a career but I was wrong. I waited too long to step out of my comfort zone thinking I wasn't really capable of doing it. I had fallen into the trap of listening to my own inner critic.  They're the times you have to dig deep and realise that not everybody sees you as you see yourself. Accept where you are but think about your past successes and trust you can repeat those in order to move forward. Have a little chat with yourself. Literally. Stand in front of a mirror and talk to yourself, close up. Don't look for flaws just look yourself in the eyes and be kind and positive with your words. It's quite powerful. You might feel a little silly but I can tell you that a pep talk works wonders. 
It's time to see ourselves as others do. I know so many clever, strong, intelligent women who feel their "career" or "best" years are behind them because of their age. But I can tell you it's never too late to try something different. I'm loving my new role in social media management and I know that it's given me back self belief I thought was long gone.
