I like choosing movements that will create speed and effective movement to perform at a higher level in ANY sport…
Athletes need storage of strength and power throughout their game to stay explosive from beginning to end; it could make the difference between defeat and victory!
Here are a few drills that we approve:
-Goblet Box Squats
o Great way to concentrate on the concentric explosive portion (squatting up) of the lift. Really work on engaging the core, driving shoulders down to recruit scapular control and chin in a neutral position for a neutral spine.
-Landmine Front Squat
o You will positively be assured your form HAS to be correct, the lift will tell you if something is off by pushing you over or create inefficient lowering or standing. Here you will build vertical force, hip contraction and core engagement. All movement activations contribute to abilities used in sport such as sprinting and jumping.
- Med Ball Weight Vertical with Speed Contrast Verticals
o I LOVE jumping variations! Here we are trying to engage quick bursts by creating minimal ground contact then dropping the ball to create a contrast effect building even more rapid muscle response
.
I have trained and personally done these drills, they will continue to build the capacity you are looking for to achieve your goals!
