Working on some veer footwork and touch tonight out of a cross-step. The veer is a great move to use against a long or strong defender on your inside that you need to bump off balance before getting into your layup. 

The biggest keys for the veer are to take a long stride with your first step after picking up the ball to make sure you are at least even with the defender. Use your last step to drive into and bump the defender while staying low and on balance. Keep your arm out straight while going up for the layup to use your shoulders to keep the defender as far from the ball as possible and release the ball high to avoid the block.
