Marko Pavic ‘26 is a Software Development major, which is not a field that is often publicized or talked about, according to him.

“I think that it’s a hard field to jump into, I think that a lot of people don’t follow through with it, they kind of get started but don’t really end it,” he stated.

Pavic was originally wanting to be an anesthesiologist, but thanks to the internet and his older siblings, he got a lot more interested in software development. He credits it to videos on YouTube and Tiktok that helped spark his interest in the field.

For right now, Pavic just wants to get more experience so he can get a jump start on his future in software development. He said, “As a freshman, I’m just looking to build projects and stuff like that, trying to get more experience. As far as when I get out of college and that sort, maybe working in some sort of financial section with software, because I can see where those things cross into each other. Finance does use coding in general to automate a lot of processes, it’s a big part of it and I think that it is a needed field.”

In addition to being interested in software development, Pavic also wants to start a new club here at Marist: a Croatian language club.

“I was thinking about maybe starting a Croatian language club. I want to see where that goes, but I have to talk to the language department first and see what we can do.”
